Entertainment

Introduction

During the 1920s and 1930s people were coming up with new and exciting ideas to keep themselves entertained. New things such as films, music, radio, and arts.

Films

Imagine a film with no big action scenes, no effects, no dialogue-not even any sound at all. This would probably be a lot like the movie  of the 1920s. In 1920s Australian film industry started to use sound in films. Watching film in 1920s and 1930s became a popular form of mass entertainment. Every town and city has a permanent cinema. This was so popular that Australians attended at least one film a week.

Sports

Sports was one of the popular way of entertaining themselves. Sports games were often affordable, and very exciting way to spend Saturday afternoon or evening. Popular sports in 1920s and 1930s included soccer, cricket and football which draw crowds of 20 000+.

 Extra Entertainment

Sports, film, radio were part of 1920s and 1930s entertainment but there is more to come. People could sit down for hours at a time, and listen to their box. Beaches like Bondi got popular as well. People would flock from all across the country to sit on those golden beaches and a dip in the cool water.
